Every once and a while I'm asked by a friend or a friend of a friend to shoot their wedding videos. How can you say no? Well, I can't. Here is a video I shot for a long time 'Friends' fan to present at the opening of her wedding reception...oh, and I had to stay and shoot the wedding as well. I must admite, I kinda liked it.

Network Films is currently seeking a creative writer to join our team. Primarily, apart from screen writing, the individual should also possess skills in writing synopses, treatments and log lines. In addition, he or she will work with us to reshape and tighten some loose bolts on existing projects and help make them pitch ready. This is not a job offer or volunteer position, we are looking for a partner.

If you’re a band or solo artist and need to get a music video produced, you don’t have to break the bank to do it. In fact, it may not cost you anything. As a musician and music producer, I know how tough it is to get your music out there and I’d like to help.

At Network Films, we’ve made it our mission to support the development of Canadian independent music artists by producing professional broadcast quality music videos with a minimal budget.

We are looking for bands or solo artists that have released a CD in the past twelve months and pressed more than two thousand copies that are now ready to promote their release with a video. A Sick Shoot

That by the way is as true as all the medications I was on that day! When my partner Rob asked me if I was interested in shooting Carlo Coppola's music video, believe me, I was in no way interested in working in my condition. Of course the little bugger had to mention that a director was flown in from Rome purposely for this video. Well, my ears suddenly perked up…what?

Then he says "by the way, this kid from Rome, his uncle happens to be the famous Italian award winning singer songwriter Adriano Celentano". Well, I suddenly started to feel much better. Especially since this sixties eccentric super star was in one of my favorite movies of all time! La Dolce Vita, directed by none other than Federico Fellini. WELL OF COURSE I'M IN! Hated my life for the next couple of days, but hey, I'm all better now and I was part of a wonderful team made up of director Luca Rocchi, Rob Gallo, Charlie Gueli, Giulio Muratori and of course the very talented Carlo Coppola singing his rendition of “L’Emozione Non Ha Voce” (Voiceless Emotions). Thanks Rob.

VIVA!

One afternoon I was having lunch in Toronto with friend and musician, Tony Camara talking about our three favourite subjects; food, music and food. Growing up in his family restaurant, Tony’s life revolved around food, music and culture and he always talks passionately about his Azorean heritage. So we thought, wouldn’t it be cool to produce a food and travel show about this. Most of the travel shows out there are always talking about the same over visited tourist spots. Rome, Paris, Brazil etc., all beautiful places of course, but hardly original content. We wanted to highlight some of the lesser known and secretly beautiful places in the world and focus more on the people and culture as opposed to historical dates and facts. Since he spent most of his life performing in front of live audiences and appearing on television and radio shows, in front of the camera, he comes across and being comfortable and the boy next door type. So, hosting a show about food, travel and culture, just seems like a natural thing to do.

When he lived back in the old country, Tony’s dad, Tabico Camara, was a well known musician himself and over the years he had developed the reputation of being an outspoken and influential person, the King of Kensington of the Azores we call him. “When he walks down the street, he smiles at everyone” No really, he does. Driving through the island, it seemed like every time we turned a corner, someone would recognize him and stop to invite him for a coffee or dinner. So when the local businesses, hotels and restaurants on the island of Sao Miguel heard that we were there with the King and his son to shoot a travel show, we were all welcomed with open arms, open doors and open kitchens. (Note to travel show producers; learn to enjoy obesity).

In the fourteen days we were there, we covered everything from tea making to whale watching to how to cook food by burying it, no it’s not a spelling error, burying it. You have to watch the trailer. When the local media heard that the Camara’s were back in town, they were invited to appear on one of the most popular live radio programs in Portugal. If you’re a radio show host and you’re foolish enough to give Tony’s dad a live microphone, you will have more than your share of political viewpoints that you wish you can retract. Let’s just say that shortly after we returned from the Azores, I personally got a call from the President of the Azores office, at home at 6:30am. Enough said. Like I mentioned, outspoken and influential. But the show would not have been possible without him. We love you Tabico.
